Wander Without Worry: Invisalign Travel Tips to Know

You may be enjoying your Invisalign treatment and getting your routine with them down. They have conveniently fit into your lifestyle, not causing much of a hitch while getting the straighter smile you love. However, if you have a trip coming up, then you may be a bit worried about how your aligners will impact it. Thankfully, travelling with them doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are three tips to know.

1.)  Pack Extra Aligners and Essentials

In order to keep your orthodontic journey on track, you’ll need to switch over to a new set of trays every week or so. This will continue applying pressure on your teeth, moving them into healthier positions. If your upcoming trip is going to be weeks or months long, then be sure to bring the right number of aligners. That way, you don’t wear one pair for longer than expected, which can cause delays.

Not only that, but you should carry around a small pouch of your dental essentials. Keeping a travel toothbrush, floss, mini toothpaste, and mouthwash on hand, you can feel confident knowing you have what you need to clean your smile after you eat. Toss in an extra case, and you may set yourself up for success.

2.)  Have Spare Bottles of Water

If you are going to your destination by car or plane, then the restrooms you’ll use may not be the most sanitary. It’s easy to feel grossed out using the sink for your oral hygiene, so you should have water bottles with you instead. These can help you feel better about using them to wet your toothbrush or rinse your mouth.

3.)  Stay Diligent with Your Aligner Routine

When you arrive at where you’re headed, you may be excited to relax or dive into the culture around you. It’s easy to wind down with your worries far behind you, but you shouldn’t let this care-free nature affect your Invisalign routine. You’ll still need to get the full 22-hour wear time. If you don’t, then you may experience some delays in getting your results.

A great way to remind yourself about your trays is by setting alarms and timers while you eat. As they ring, they can give you the boost you need to pop your aligners back in. Many people also find success with apps like TrayMinder. Keep these tips in mind while you’re on the go and have safe travels!
