4 Tips for Taking Great Photos with Your Braces

As you undergo your braces treatment, you might be excited to get your aesthetic smile in the end. While you will be able to flaunt a healthier bite, it will take time to get to it. During this, you will most likely want to take some photos, but what’s the best way you can with the hardware shifting your grin? Here are four tips to help you get great pictures that you are confident in.

1.)  Take Time to Properly Clean Your Braces

Even if you don’t have braces, having food and stuff stuck between your teeth in a photo can make you want to delete it right away. Instead, you should prepare for this and properly clean out your smile. You might already know how you should brush and floss twice daily, but don’t forget to use floss threaders or interdental brushes to make your routine a bit easier.

These simple things can help you get in between your brackets and wires; that way, you can feel your best knowing your grin doesn’t have anything on it.

2.)  Be Wary of Certain Foods

Dark-colored foods and drinks can leave pigments behind on your teeth. They can find their way into the pores of your enamel and turn into stains that you become self-conscious about. The best way you can avoid discoloration is by limiting these items. Drinking water after having them can also help you wash away any lingering particles.

Sticky, hard, or chewy foods can increase your risk of a broken bracket or wire if you aren’t careful. While they might not seem like they will detract from your photos, avoiding them can help you prevent an orthodontic emergency beforehand. That way, you don’t have to stress about your braces and focus on the cameras flashing.

3.)  Choose the Right Elastic Color

If you get elastics on your braces to give them a bit of flair, you should pick the right color that will accentuate your smile. Avoid white, yellow, or green bands as they can become stained and look dingy. These can make your grin look a bit off compared to how it actually is! Consider choosing a darker, or a “jewel-toned,” color that can make your teeth look brighter.

4.)  Feel Confident About Your Smile

In the end, you should feel confident about your braces. While that may be easier said than done for some, it’s important to remember the benefits. After you finish with your treatment, you will have a straighter smile that you love. With your healthier bite, you may want to show it off, so you might as well start getting used to it now. That way, you embrace your look while you get your photos taken.
